Newtown Square, PA - FSP Forum 2008, hosted by the Society of Financial Service Professionals (FSP) October 31-November 2 in Las Vegas, will be book-ended by two exciting general sessions: a motivational presentation from a leading national speaker and an expert panel discussion on succession planning for a family business.

The opening general session features Mike Schlappi, who has succeeded as an Olympic athlete, entrepreneur, author and father despite a tragic accident that has confined him to a wheelchair since the age of 14.   His thought-provoking keynote presentation, “If You Can’t Stand Up, Stand Out,” challenges individuals to take responsibility and be empowered despite the obstacles life places in the way.

With a nod to The Godfather, a panel discussion entitled “It’s Not Personal Sonny, Its Strictly Business” features a family in transition as the patriarch looks to retire from the business. Is there enough value in the company to fund 20-30 years of retirement? What are the estate tax implications? Are the kids on board with dad’s succession plans? Moderator Richard Weber, MBA, CLU, will guide a dramatic demonstration of the value of a team approach to succession planning featuring four expert panelists; Robert Alexander, JD, LLM, AEP, EPLS; Sam Torolopoulos, CPA-ABV, ASA; Dennis Axman, CLU, ChFC, AEP, CFP; and Margaret May Damen, CFP, CLU, ChFC, CDFA.

The FSP Forum is a premier educational and networking event featuring advanced, practice-oriented instruction by world-class speakers on a broad range of financial topics; an outstanding motivational presentation; a state-of-the-art Professional Resource Center and numerous opportunities for social interactions with the best and the brightest in the financial services profession.

Thirty-six educational sessions will be presented at FSP Forum 2008, offering up to 12 hours of CE for insurance, CFPs, CPAs and attorneys. All Forum educational sessions are recorded and will be available to attendees for twelve months following the event. Handouts for most sessions will be available via free on-site wi-fi connections so attendees can make their notes directly in the handout files using their own laptop computers.

The FSP Forum 2008 will be headquartered at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa. Along with the educational and professional offerings, Forum attendees can enjoy a variety of networking and recreational opportunities. For information and registration, call 1-800-392-6900 or visit www.fspforum.com.
