Overview of the Society
The Society of Financial Service Professionals (FSP) is a national network of credentialed professionals working in diverse financial disciplines. The Society's core values are Education, Ethics and Relationships. Its mission is to promote professionalism among its members by establishing and rewarding the highest standards of ethical conduct, by cultivating mutually beneficial relationships among credentialed financial service professionals and by delivering top-quality continuing education programming for the industry.
The Society of FSP is dedicated to setting and promoting standards of excellence for professionals in financial services. The Society of FSP administers the American Business Ethics Award (ABEA), the industry's pre-eminent prize devoted to professional conduct. The ABEA recognizes companies that exemplify high standards of ethical behavior in their everyday business conduct and/or in response to specific ethical crises or challenges. Entries are judged by a distinguished independent panel that represents the business, academic, public service, and consulting communities.
The 2009 ABEA is sponsored by Pacific Life. Jim Morris, CEO of Pacific Life, states his support for the ABEA:
"Just as there are many laws and regulations that guide us in our compliance efforts, there are many ethical standards that guide us in doing the right thing. Some of the most important values at Pacific Life are honesty, integrity, trustworthiness, and fairness. These values are the source of our Code of Business Conduct, the strength of our company, and the heart of our commitment to our customers."
The Society of FSP's 15,000 members in 160 local chapters are highly skilled professionals with a variety of credentials, including CASL®,CEBS®,CFA®, CFP®, ChFC®, CLF®, CLU®, CPA, CPC, CTFA, Enrolled Actuary, Graduate Degrees (MS, MSFS, MSM, MBA, PhD), JD REBC®, and RHU®. These professionals utilize the Society to build lasting relationships that improve their industry knowledge. Involvement with an FSP Chapter develops and hones critical leadership skills. FSP members use the Chapters to network with other professionals outside their practice specialty for the benefit of their clients.
The Society of FSP is the premier provider of quality education to members, trade associations and companies. Continuing education services offer credit for financial planners, attorneys, accountants and insurance agents. The Society is an approved provider of continuing education in all states for CFPs® and by the American Bar Association and the state accountancy boards.
The Society administers continuing education for many trade associations, including The Million Dollar Round Table, AALU and the International Forum. Prestigious companies such as LPL Financial, LLC and Prudential contract with the Society to conduct meaningful continuing education sessions for their employees.
