The Wisconsin Business Ethics Award (WBEA) recognizes companies for their commitment to ethical business practices, quality products or services, and community involvement. This award was established and introduced in 2011 by the Society for Financial Service Professionals – Milwaukee Chapter (SFSP). Qualified entries are forwarded from the WBEA to the American Business Ethics Award (ABEA) national program.
The ABEA program has been a hallmark of excellence in business ethics since it was first presented in 1994. The ABEA represents the highest standards of professionalism and ethical performance within the business community, among ethics professionals and academicians, as well as recognition by the general public. As the prestige of the award grows, more and more companies and the public are becoming aware of the significance that receiving this award carries both locally and nationally. Awards are presented in three categories:
• large companies (over 2,500 employees) • mid-sized companies (250-2,500 employees) • small companies (fewer than 250 employees) A company may be nominated for consideration by a customer, client, employee, consultant, vendor, or it may self-nominate. Nominated companies are required to complete and provide documentation of ethics in action at their company.
Note: Financial service companies and nonprofit organizations are not eligible to participate. A financial service company is defined as one that earns more than 25 percent of its revenue from providing financial services or from the sale of financial products. The Foundation for Financial Service Professionals works in conjunction with the 178 Chapters of the Society of FSP across the United States to foster regional ABEA programs. These programs recognize and honor companies in their communities that embody and demonstrate high standards of ethical behavior in their everyday business conduct. The Society of FSP Chapters appoint an independent panel of judges to review entries in accordance with the national ABEA standards. The entries submitted for the local programs may also be forwarded for consideration in the national ABEA program. 2011 WBEA Recipients:CG Schmidt 2011 WBEA Finalists:The Stark Agency Our 2011 Sponsors:Title SponsorAnthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Platinum SponsorThe Benefit Services Group, Inc.
