Q. Where will Forum 2008 events take place?
A. Forum 2008 activities and events will take place at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa, 221 N. Rampart Boulevard, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Q. Where do I pick up my registration material and name badge?
A. The Registration Area will be open on Thursday, October 30, at 10:00 a.m. in the Marriott’s Grand Ballroom Foyer. Registration will remain open everyday thereafter until the close of the Forum.
Important: Your name badge will admit you to all Educational Sessions, Professional Showcase Sessions, General Sessions, Opening Reception and the ProfessionalResourceCenter. Without a name badge, you cannot enter these functions. No exceptions can be made.
Q. When does Forum 2008 begin and end?
A. Forum 2008 begins with the Opening General Session on Friday, October 31 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Forum 2008 will end with a Closing General Session on Sunday, November 2, from 9:45 am to 11:45 a.m. The Foundation Golf Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, November 2 from 12:30 pm – 5:00 pm at Angel Park Golf Club, which is located across the street from the Marriott Resort.
Q. What should I do if I need to make changes or additions to my Forum registration after I have registered?
A. All changes related to Forum registration must be made in writing to:

If you wish to make changes to hotel reservations, you must contact the JW Marriott Resort & Spa directly at 1-800-297-5056.
Q. What is the Forum cancellation policy?
A. If you need to cancel your Forum reservation, please do so by October 21, 2008, and you will receive a refund, less a $100 service charge. No refunds will be given after October 21, 2008.
Q. How do I make my room reservations?
A. Reservations must be made by September 29, 2008 to receive the Society’s special Forum room rate. Reservations made after this date are subject to hotel’s space and rate availability. All reservation requests will require one night’s deposit by credit card, personal check, or money order. Deposits will be refunded for rooms cancelled more than 72 hours prior to arrival.
You have two ways to take advantage of the special group rates:
1. Online at http://marriott.com/lasjw?groupCode=sfssfsa&app=resvlink, using code SFSSFSA for group rate.
2. By phone: Marriott - 1-800-297-5056. Identify yourself as a Society of Financial Service Professional for group rate.
You will receive a confirmation directly from the hotel. Please review the information for accuracy.
Room Rates: $199 single/double occupancy; $20 for each additional occupant. Taxes are currently 9%. Applicable taxes are subject to change. Group rates will be offered 3 days prior and 3 days following the event dates, based on availability.
Q. What are the hotel check-in and check-out times?
A. Check-in and check-out times for the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa are:
- Check-in 4:00 p.m.
- Check-out 12:00 p.m.
Q. How do I get from the airport to the hotel?
A. The best mode of transportation from Las Vegas (McCarran) Airport to the Hotel is by taxi cab. Fares range from $45-$60 one-way. The Hotel offers a shuttle to the airport for $25 per person and this can be arranged on-site through the Hotel’s Concierge in advance of your departure.
Q. How can I get travel discounts for the Forum?
A. Airline Discounts
American Airlines is the official airlines of the 2008 Financial Service Forum and is offering discounts off the lowest applicable fares. Book on-line at www.aa.com or call 1-800-433-1790 (a service fee may apply if reserving by phone)
Use Authorization Code A91H8AI for Forum discount.
B. Discount Car Rentals
Hertz is the official car rental company for the 2008 Forum. For reservations, call 1-800-654-2240 and refer to meeting CV #03S90003 for Forum discount. You may also make reservations online at www.hertz.com, using the CV# for the discount. There is a Hertz located on-site at the JW Marriott Resort.
Q. Is there a dress code for the meeting?
A. Business casual is appropriate dress for most Forum 2008 events. A sweater or light jacket is suggested for air-conditioned meeting rooms. Resort casual can be worn for the Opening Night Reception.
Q. What activities are included in a guest/companion registration?
A. A registered guest/companion receives admittance to all Forum 2008 events and venues. Special Guest/Companion programs will be offered on Saturday, November 1, and Sunday, November 2. Spouses/guests registered at the special spouse/guest rate may attend CE sessions but are not eligible to receive CE credit. CE credit will only be issued to attendees paying the full Forum rate.
Q. How do I get PACE, CFP, state insurance, banking, legal or accounting continuing education credit for attending Forum 2008?
A. Most educational sessions will offer CE credit. In addition to these sessions, we are also offering Professional Showcase sessions, which may be eligible for select CE credits. (See session description for specific CE information.) Refer to the CE Credit Info tab on this site for regular updates on your state’s CE credit approval and exceptions, as they are received.
Q. What should I do if I want to attend two sessions that are scheduled concurrently?
A. Your Forum registration includes free online access to all educational sessions for a full year after the Forum through Prolibraries.com.
Q. What is this I hear about the Forum being “paperless”?
A. Through a special arrangement between the Society of FSP and DigiTell Corporation, Forum attendees can view or download speaker outlines and handouts at http://www.prolibraries.com/fsp. And, using your laptop, you can take notes directly on the PowerPoint slides during the speakers’ presentations
since we will provide wifi internet access in each breakout session room.
Q. Will there be exhibits at the meeting?
A. The Professional Resource Center, featuring a variety of products and services, will be located in the Grand Ballroom at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa.
The ProfessionalResourceCenter schedule is as follows:
- Friday, October 31 – 11:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. (Lunch included)
- Saturday, November 1 – 11:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. (Lunch included)
- Saturday, November 1 – 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Wine & Cheese Reception)
You must be present to win for all prize drawings in the Professional Resource Center.
Q. What activities and amenities are offered at or near the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa, and how can I make reservations?
A. The Marriott’s Concierge can make reservations for you for all activities at the resort and suggest activities and make reservations for all off-site venues. The resort offers an on-site casino, a variety of restaurants on-site, spa, golf, salon, fitness center, pool, whirlpool, and fitness classes.
