Tee Sponsorship

We need your help. Please consider sponsoring a tee sign at the 2010 FSP Forum Golf Tournament for the benefit of the Foundation for Financial Service Professionals. This annual event will take place on October 10 at the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club in Orlando.

The contribution is just $250 and will help support Financial Education Partners (FEP), the American Business Ethics Award, Paul Mills Scholarships, and other Foundation programs and services. One of our primary objectives for this year is to be able to continue to build FEP success stories like Sam's:

Sam lives in San Diego. He has cancer and went through a successful kidney replacement eight years ago. But now his body is rejecting the new kidney and his health insurance carrier says "no go" for a second replacement. So, Sam goes home at night and hooks himself up to 10 hours of dialysis. This is where FEP comes in. Through the Financial Education Partners referral program, Sam met John Rodee, an FEP volunteer and past president of the Society of FSP's San Diego Chapter. John urged Sam to apply for Medicare. Seven months later, Sam told John that he got no response from Medicare. John got involved again. Initially, Medicare rejected Sam's coverage due to an "untimely application," but with an appropriately worded appeal from John, this decision was reversed and Sam's Medicare coverage was reinstated retroactively. And, best of all, Medicare Part B will pay for the second kidney replacement!

We'd love to see you be a part of a success story like this. If you can help, fill out a tee sponsor form online or use this form and return it with your check to the Foundation by August 23, 2010. If you need more information, contact Anne Rigney at 800-927-2427, ext. 2536.

Course Architect

Rees Jones, son of Robert Trent Jones, Sr. was named Architect of the Year by Golf World magazine in 1995 and is consistently ranked among the top five architects in Golf Digest magazine. He adds Waldorf Astoria Golf Club to a list of several national prestigious golf courses he has designed or significantly remodeled such as Baltusrol, Congressional, Hazeltine, Pinehurst #2, Brookline, and Bethpage Black.

Rees Jones' Philosophy of Golf Course Design: "If I were to summarize my philosophy for golf course design, it would be this: to create an environment for the game of golf that is challenging, fair, and aesthetically pleasing. I would rather create a natural, classic course that blends with its surroundings, than a course full of unnecessary gimmicks which discourage the average golfer."

Unique Characteristics

Waldorf Astoria Golf Club's 18 holes play through native Florida pine hammocks and vegetation. The property is free from residential development and offers beautiful views of The Waldorf Astoria Orlando and the Hilton Bonnet Creek. A portion of the course was designed around two large lakes that provide a wonderful backdrop. Exceptional service is at the core of Waldorf Astoria Golf Club, ensuring that memories will be created during your golf experience.
