Program Overview

Dick Weber is the thought leader behind Life Insurance as an Asset Class, a concept that objectively supports the use of permanent life insurance for lifetime needs. In this revisit, Dick reminds us of the key concepts behind selecting the right policy styles for the right reasons, and then looks specifically at Indexed Universal Life as the newest entry into the realm of "lifetime" products.  While being neutral on the "what's best?" with respect to different policy styles, there are important realities for which all financial advisors need to be aware when it comes to understanding the differences between current assumption and guaranteed policies.

Attendees Will Learn:

  • Why term - of which not enough is bought by U.S. families - is not actuarially designed for lifetime uses
  • How to align client risk tolerance with policy style recommendations
  • How volatility between 0% and 10% can still lead to IUL lapses when lifetime premiums are calculated with crediting rate assumptions greater than 5%
  • Why it's important for non-insurance advisors and their clients to appreciate the "lock in" differences between current assumption and whole life policies

Featured Speaker:

Richard M. Weber, MBA, CLU, AEP, was the 2012-2013 President of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. A 46-year veteran of the life insurance industry, he has been a successful agent, an insurance company executive, and now a consultant to insurers and their agents on the topic of effective and ethical selling. Author of more than 300 articles encompassing products, sales practices, and the due diligence necessary to buy and sell insurance, his most recent research, Life Insurance as an Asset Class , co-authored with Christopher Hause, received the 2008 Academy of Financial Services "Best Paper" award. Mr. Weber has been a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals since 1974 and has been honored with the Society's Kenneth Black, Jr. Leadership Award.
