The Society of FSP Approves the AEP® Credential for Society Membership
For Release: Immediate
On January 19, 2012, during their Board of Directors Meeting, the Society of FSP approved the Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®) Designation as eligible for FSP membership. The Society examined the educational and experience requirements to earn this credential; the continuing education and ethics requirements to maintain it; and other information it deemed relevant regarding the credibility of the AEP® in the professional community. Based on its examination, the Society concluded that allowing holders of the AEP® designation as FSP members is most appropriate.
The Accredited Estate Planner® designation is available to attorneys, Chartered Life Underwriters, Certified Public Accountants, Certified Trust and Financial Advisors, Chartered Financial Consultants, and Certified Financial Planners. The AEP® designation is awarded by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC) to recognized estate planning professionals who meet special requirements of education, experience, knowledge, professional reputation, and character. NAEPC is a highly respected national organization of professional estate planners and affiliated estate planning councils focused on establishing and monitoring the highest professional and educational standards.
"The AEP designation fits extremely well within the breadth and scope of other credentials that we accept for Society membership, and we look forward to developing for and receiving value from the vast network of men and women who currently hold this important credential," said April Caudill, JD, CLU, ChFC, AEP, President, Society of FSP.
