The Next Level of the Financial Planning Process (August 25, 2010 Audio Conference)

Statistics suggest that up to 80% of the recommendations made by financial planners are not implemented by those receiving the advice. Who's to blame? To be sure, both planners and their clients share responsibility. But is it possible that the lack of broad and comprehensive implementation of recommendations does not represent a failing on the part of the financial planner's implementation tactics, but instead a lack of attention paid to the formative stages of the financial planning process when the planner/client relationship is first established and explored?

Many have explored various routes to better understanding ourselves as advisors and our clients—foremost among them, George Kinder's "Life Planning," Kahler/Klontz's, "Integrated Financial Planning" and Money Quotient's "Financial Life Planning." Their work is inspiring to planners and clients across the country (and planet, really) as they have built on the foremost foundational step of the financial planning process—knowing our clients.

This session will re-examine the foundation of the financial planning process and introduce advanced thought processes and techniques designed to aid financial planners in the pursuit of better understanding and guiding clients.

  • Discover why the majority of financial planning recommendations are never implemented
  • Learn techniques from four different experts' perspectives on better communication with clients
  • Determine the steps to better integrating your client processes and best facilitating mutual trust
  • (Time permitting) Enhance client and prospect communication through social media
